Heirloom seeds have been collected over generations and are valuable treasures.  When we put these types of plants and flowers into our gardens and homes we are getting the best of what our ancestors have left behind.  Heirlooms are rarely sold in stores because they are not as commercially viable, but for the backyard gardener that moves their food from yard to table they offer better flavor,more biodiversity, and the ability to save seeds for sharing and future garden seasons.
