Heirloom
plants, flowers
& Trees
Heirloom seeds have been saved season after season for generations, and are valuable treasures. When we put these types of plants and flowers into our gardens and homes we are getting the best of what our ancestors have left behind. Heirloom seedlings are rarely sold in stores, but for the backyard gardener that moves their food from yard to table they offer better flavor, more biodiversity, and the ability to save seeds for sharing and replanting.

Wasabina Mustard Greens
(Brassica juncea). This mustard green has an uncanny resemblance to wasabi; allow the pleasantly pungent flavor and unmistakable nose tingle wash over your senses! Shocking chartreuse leaves with frilled edges make this a wild addition to a salad mix. Try roasting or stir frying the greens, allowing a little oil and heat to mellow out the flavor. Super cold-tolerant plants are also slow to bolt.
Garden Bouquet
A lovely little bit of the garden to bring inside or gift to a friend. I make my garden bouquets out of whatever is in bloom in the garden that I can trust to stay fresh in a vase for several days. This week bouquets will have zinnias, cosmos, sunflowers, basil, gomphrena.
