I was invited to be a part of the Castell Street Market this weekend in New Braunfels and it was fantastic, though a little rainy and thundery at the end. It was a last minute invite so I had some rushing to do to get everything ready for my very first market with Handpicked Heirlooms. I am so grateful to Patrick and Misty at local flower farm, Misty Acres Flower Farm in Seguin, for helping me out with some beautiful last minute blooms, and to my guys (my sons and husband) for pitching in to get my tent up and all of the plants and flowers transported. I truly enjoyed getting to be in community with other gardeners and plant lovers. I was actually sad when I had to pull down early to escape the weather. I learned some important things at my first market - make sure you have the ability to take credit cards, have basil (at least 5 different people asked after it), and when the organizer Allyson pulls her tent down follow her lead immediately (she seemed to have her finger on the pulse of exactly when the weather would hit).
